A Scary Day: Bus Accident Hurts 25, Mostly Kids, on Assam's Road

Something really bad happened on a Tuesday morning in Assam. A bus carrying kids for a fun day out went off the road, and 25 people got hurt, most of them were children. This happened on National Highway 37 in Hailakandi district.

What Went Wrong?

The bus was from Katakhal Public School, and they were all excited about their picnic. But on the way, something went wrong. The police say that out of the 25 people who got hurt, 20 were students. Four of them needed to go to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for more help.

Police Are Checking

A person called Samir Baruah, who works as an additional superintendent of police in Hailakandi district, is checking what happened. The authorities are attempting to determine what caused this accident. It all went down in the Katakhal area around 10:30 in the morning when a cyclist showed up in front of the bus.

Trying to Avoid Trouble

The bus driver did their best to avoid hitting the cyclist. They swerved to the side but ended up hitting another vehicle. After that, things went out of control, and the bus rolled off the road.

Help Came Quickly

The police and a team called the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) quickly got to the spot. After tending to the injured, they transported them to a local hospital. Four of them needed more help, so they were sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital.

First, People's Health Matters

Samir Baruah, the police person, said that right now, they are checking what happened. But the most important thing was to make sure the injured people get the right help. He stated that while they are interested in learning why this occurred, the needs of the people come first.
